Bioacoustics

There is always something going on in the forest. Our ears perceive many things before our eyes do. This fact can be used scientifically. The many sounds can be recorded with special acoustic recording devices and then analyzed to describe nature and biodiversity. With acoustic forest monitoring, we can create (bio-)acoustic fingerprints for decision-making processes in management and politics.

In the project “Acoustic Forest Monitoring” (AkWamo) we are working on the integration of (bio-)acoustic methods for the quantification of biodiversity in forest monitoring.
